What’s Taking So Long!!
I’m sure many of us as asked God this question. Wondered in
the back of our mind if we were doing what we needed to do, and most
importantly was God doing his part. Well, we know one answer. God has done his
part! He has laid everything out for us and we have to walk it. Every scenario
that could and will happen has been calculated and provided for. So, what is
taking so long?
God is going to do a new thing in our lives, a bigger and
better thing but will we receive it? God gives us amazing gifts but sometimes,
we don’t like the packaging or the box or some other aspect of his gift. We
complain about it and reject it. Some of us see the gift and get overwhelmed by
it. We don’t deserve something this magnificent. At God’s insistence that we
receive it, subconsciously, some of us, self-sabotage and then later blame it
on God.
What is self-sabotage? It is when a person creates a problem
that interferes with the blessing that is meant for you. People do that with
jobs, relationships, goals. We find a way to mess things up because we are so
comfortable in our misery. When you have lived in misery so long, you’re not
even sure how to walk in victory and prosperity. God said in his word that he
wants above all else for us to prosper even as our souls prosper. (3 John 2)
That mean God wants us to grow inwardly and outwardly.
Stop saying you believe God when you really don’t! It’s like
telling the love of your life that you love them with everything within
yourself but you won’t marry them. What’s the point? Saying one thing with your
lips only to contradict it with your actions is poimtless. If you believe God,
than act like it. Push aside the fear, the excuses, the complaints and your
pride and see the truth. God gives only good gifts!
It’s funny that we teach our loved ones that when someone
gives us a gift no matter how horrible looking it may be, we should accept it
gratefully and say to ourselves, “it’s the thought that counts.” If we do that
with people who are deceiving and sinful beings, why can’t we except gifts from
the perfect father who always gives perfect, well-thought out gifts? I will
tell you. It is a form of self-sabotage.
When God sends the gift you’ve been crying out for, you have
to push aside the lies and except if gratefully and with gladness. Yes, it will
be uncomfortable because you’re not used to having good things happen. But
every time you push away God’s blessing and complain about the lack of
blessings in your life, you are insulting God. God will not force his blessing
on you.
What do blessings look like? Blessings come in all shapes,
sizes and forms and sometimes, our blessing may look like a curse. God’s gifts
may sometimes seem unconventional, but they are always perfect for us. A
blessing can be the perfect home in your non-ideal living area. A blessing can
be the perfect job or career with the extra 30 min drive. The blessing could be
a business deal that requires a speech you think you can’t write or speak.
Blessings can make us uncomfortable and can cost us something we thought
impossible to give. Remember God wants us to prosper even as our soul prospers.
He wants double growth from us.
Stop rejecting God’s agents of blessings! When God sends
someone in your life to bless you, take the blessing with gratitude. Stop being
suspicious and bitter, turning your nose up at compliments, promotions,
recognition, open praise! There are people out there who don’t get any of those
things. God does this to show us his love and how he views us. We are the one looking
at ourselves through broken mirrors, proclaiming how ugly we are. God has the
intact mirror and can see us perfectly and he loves what he sees. Let God show
you his love through his gifts, gifts that come to you through physical
blessings, people’s encouragement or kind words. But let them come. Learn to
accept the small things because it will prepare you for the bigger things to
come.
