The Next Step
The New Year has begun and
hope has been made afresh in our hearts. The New Year always brings new possibilities,
new blessings, and new challenges. Many of us write a list of things we’re
going to do or change this year and most don’t quite stick to the list and end
up recycling a few of the old things onto the next year’s list. What can we do
to make sure we truly take the next step to become that person God wants us to
be? This is a question I have been asking God. What do you want me to do? Some
of us get so wrapped up on what we want to do that we forget to ask the father
what he wants from us.
Have you ever had the
feeling deep inside that something amazing was going to happen and you waited
an anticipation for that something to manifest? So have I. Last year and the
year before were years of a lot of troubles and turmoil but there was always
this feeling that something big and amazing would happen. During my journey, I
encountered many people, many who I didn’t know and didn’t know my story, who
came up to me and confirmed that feeling I was having. Last year that feeling
got stronger and I knew that 2015 would be the year when that something did
happen. Towards the end of 2014 that truth was confirmed numerous times. Now
walking in 2015, I see things unfolding in my life and I know that this is my
year for the miraculous. I also know I’m not alone in this, many of us have been
waiting for a time like this. Many of us have been predestined to shine and be
blessed like never before, this year. If that’s you, you should be over the
moon, like TD Jakes said, “This year will be a new normal!”
Many of you wonder what your
next step is. You know this is your year but what should you do? Should you
just sit back and watch life unfold or should you be doing something? First, we
need to ask God what he wants us to do. Having a goal to move toward is
extremely important. The reason why that list never gets accomplished is
because we’re not focused enough or disciplined. Some of us don’t know where to
start. Well, God will tell you what you need to be doing. Sometimes he will
give you some detail, sometimes it will just be a word or a strong pulling in a
certain direction. This is the year to run toward whatever God sets in front of
you. I realized that the two previous years were training years for the
marathon of amazing life ahead of me. This life would challenge me, excite me
and when I reached the finish, I would have done things I never thought was
possible.
Don’t be discouraged by slow
progress. This is something I personally struggle with. You’re putting your
best foot forward and only little progress is being shown, that is okay. Most
people don’t become a millionaire overnight. Everything takes time. So with
that extra time on your hands work on getting yourself to the best version of
you. Ask God to show you the things that’s hindering you from moving forward.
Ask God to show you people you need to forgive. The first step is cleaning the
gook from inside our hearts. We will never be able to obtain the glorious
things God has for us if we don’t have any room left in our hearts to receive
his blessings. Cleaning is messy and tiring and a lot of the time we don’t want
to be bothered, but if you have guest coming over, you take the time to make
your place sparkle. This same scenario runs true for our hearts and lives, God’s
blessings are many guests that are going to fill your house to overflow but no
one can get in if your place is full of junk.
Lastly, keep the joy in your
heart. No matter the trials that come or the slow progress, keep reminding
yourself that this is your year. God will show up and show out and he will
never put his children to shame. Whatever he promised you will manifest because
God is not a God who should lie and his word cannot return unto him void. 2015
will be a year of overflow, get your house in order. It’s time for you to take
the next step.
